Overview
This is a guidebook named ”OsakaAreaMap” (Osaka sightseeing navigation), which is an Osaka navigation with map that introduces recommended sightseeing spots, recommended restaurants, and hotels, with a focus on maps of Osaka city. They are distributed free of charge at tourist information centers, etc., so please pick one up and take a walk with a map in hand.

Umeda/Kitashinchi area

The area around Umeda and Kitashinchi is full of downtown areas and commercial facilities, and is surrounded by skyscrapers and department stores, offering a variety of entertainment including shopping, gourmet food, and entertainment.   From a height of 173m above ground, it is a spectacular spot where you can see the city of Osaka 360 degrees. The view is beautiful not only on a sunny day, but also at sunset and at night, making it a great spot for a date. If you purchase a ticket with a heart lock, you can also make a wish on the heart padlock.  

A large plaza that runs north and south of the station. A large golden clock and a silver clock are located on the north and south sides of the plaza, and are used as landmarks for meetings.

Namba area

The area around Namba is a lively area full of fashion, shopping, and gourmet food. The area along the Dotonbori River is lined with glowing signs and neon lights, creating a lively scene at night.   It is a unique shrine with a large lion called “Shishiden”, and many people come from all over the country to see the lion. It is also famous as a power spot.   It is the most major bridge in Namba, located in the center of Dotonbori. From the top of the bridge, you can see the popular Glico signboard and Don Quijote Ferris wheel, and it is crowded with tourists every day.

  In the precincts of Sennichimae Hozenji Temple, you can visit various halls and Buddhas such as “Nishimuki Fudo Myoo”, which is affectionately known as “Mizukake Fudoson”, “Konpirado”, and “Ohatsu Okami” at any time. Ofudo-san, who has been sprinkled with water by many people and is covered in bright green moss, will bestow blessings on everyone without discrimination.

Tenjinbashisuji area

Tenjinbashisuji Shopping Street is 2.6km long and has about 800 stores, including old-fashioned restaurants and grocery stores. It is popular and lively as the kitchen of Osaka.   Japan’s longest shopping street, approximately 2.6km long, with approximately 600 stores including clothing stores, restaurants, and entertainment stores. During the Edo period, it flourished as a temple town in front of Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, which is located on 2-chome and is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning.In the Meiji period, it developed into the shopping district it is today.  

In Osaka, it is affectionately known as “Tenma no Tenjin-san”, and its origin comes from the fact that Michizane Sugawara, an excellent scholar, is enshrined as the Tenjin deity.

The area around Tsuruhashi is full of traditional shopping streets and restaurants, with a traditional downtown atmosphere.   This park was created to commemorate the success of the Japan World Exposition held in 1970. Centered around the Tower of the Sun, there is a natural and cultural garden, a Japanese garden, the National Museum of Ethnology, and the Osaka Japanese Folk Crafts Museum.
